Mixed media wall art with Thoreau quote

Wall art, mixed media collage, vintage papers, screen prints

10"x10"x 3/4" mixed media collage.

First a layer of paint is applied to a gallery wrapped canvas, then layers of photo transfers, copies of vintage papers and stamps are added. After this even more paint is added along with screen prints. This creates layers of meaning for myself and the viewer.

The papers are pages from Uncle Wiggly on the Farm, copies of old letters and old sheet music. The tree is a photo image transfer, the bronze colored filigrees are screen printed from my own handmade screens.

There is a quote from Henry David Thoreau "Every morning was a cheerful invitation to make my life of equal simplicity, and I may say innocence, with Nature herself." This is a good reminder of the way to start a day. Our journey is a short one here on the earth and I believe it is meant to be enjoyed. I hope that you find some of that joy in my work.
